Gaming consoles, streaming and smart home devices can be connected to the OWU residential (wired) network or the BishopGuest wireless network by registering the device at our Internet Registration page.
We recommend using a wired connection, if you have access to one. The following houses and halls do have wired access in dorm rooms:
Alpha Sigma Phi
Citizens of the World
Delta Tau Delta
Hayes
Sigma Phi Epsilon
Welch
Also, Chi Phi, House of Black Culture, Phi Delta Theta, and our small living units (SLUs) each have at least one wired network port in each common area.
If your device prompts you for BishopGuest login after you've registered it, please try entering its MAC address--exactly as you registered it--for both username and password. You should only need to do this once.
Note: Gaming systems, being consumer products, typically do not support 802.1x enterprise security, therefore you cannot register them on the BishopNet wireless network. They can, however, be registered on the BishopGuest network. Registering all internet devices can be done here: wifi.owu.edu.
Another note: Wireless controllers may not work in Smith and Stuy due to the density of the building and the limits of 2.4 ghz band. We highly recommend using wired controllers.
Please let us know if you're having any difficulty with this. We can help!
