Moving messages from WebMail to BishopMailIf you have been mainly using OWU’s WebMail for e-mail access, you may want to move some or all of your current messages to your new BishopMail account. If you only have a few important messages, the easiest solution is to log in to your old account and forward those few messages to yourself (username@owu.edu). But if you want to save most or all of the messages in your WebMail account, the best solution is to force your new BishopMail account to fetch messages from your old WebMail account, as follows. If you use Webmail and keep your messages stored in the Inbox (you haven’t created folders), you can migrate the contents of your Inbox to BishopMail easily on your own:

The BishopMail server will retrieve all of the messages in your Webmail account and import them into your new Inbox. You can choose to have these bypass your Inbox in BishopMail during the importing process, which would place them in your ‘All Mail’ box in BishopMail. If you use Webmail and have filed messages into folders, you will want to make an appointment to visit the LIS helpdesk and use a slightly different migration tool that will preserve your folders and the messages therein. Moving messages from your e-mail program to BishopMailAfter you’ve created a new profile in your e-mail program, you might want to copy some of your messages from your computer over to your BishopMail account. This is by no means necessary, as you will continue to have access to any messages stored in your e-mail program, but there are several good reasons to consider doing this. You would have access to those e-mails from any computer with Web access. It would also be very easy to move to a new computer or to try a new e-mail program without having to worry about transferring your old e-mail messages. Finally, your most important e-mails would be backed up on BishopMail, in case your computer were to encounter problems. To move messages from your e-mail program to BishopMail after you have created a new profile in your e-mail program, simply select the messages or folders containing messages that you want to move to the BishopMail server and drag them into your newly-created account. The name and location of the destination folder to drag them to will vary depending on the specific e-mail program you use. See below for some examples from common e-mail programs in use on campus.
